Michael H. Vernon
An innovative leader with thirty years of progressive leadership experience developing organizational and executive management skills as a military and business professional, Mike Vernon is the President of Management Vectors, Inc, (MVI). He is a people-focused leader with the unique ability to inspire trust and confidence and build close-knit teams among people, interests, and organizations. A creative and far-ranging thinker able to search the horizon for opportunities, he readily develops the strategy to reach goals and objectives and write and implement execution policies. He assesses problems and situations rapidly, reaches consensus, and recommends viable solutions. An effective communicator, he is at ease in any setting with a proven record of successes and excellent skills in reaching agreement and acceptance. He trains and coaches people to take leadership roles. He is decisive and energetic with a focus on goals, objectives, and results. He builds relationships based on trust, ethics, integrity, and honesty.
He has held a number of responsible positions in both the corporate world and while serving in the U. S. Army. Currently, he is the president of Management Vectors, Inc., an independent and objective management consulting firm specializing in organizational development, strategic planning, and conducting workshops and seminars in strategic planning; leadership development; team building; change, transition, and transformation management; business development; and working with government requirements and clients. Working closely with representatives of the Romanian Ministry of Defense, he assisted them in developing the Modeling and Simulation Technology Integration Master Plan that will develop a national simulation capability by 2015. Additionally, he is providing advice and assistance to the Ministries of Defense of Romania, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan through a Department of State foreign assistance program, to integrate technology into the education and training curricula of the armed forces of the respective countries.
Before opening his own company in 2003, he was a Vice President with a northern Virginia technology company. While with this firm in just eight years, he grew a $50,000 task order into a multi-million dollar operation with over 180 employees at over forty separate locations worldwide and with revenues exceeding $20 million. He has held positions from Senior Analyst to Corporate Vice President. While working in the corporate world, he developed an acute sense of the importance of working for his clients and being a servant leader.
His military experience included serving on the Joint Staff in The Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Director, Strategic Plans and Policies, J-5, Strategy Division; as a strategic planner. In this critical position, he was responsible for the writing and coordination of the Joint Strategic Capabilities Plan that assigns the Unified Commanders throughout the world with war-time missions, responsibilities, and tasks. Additionally, he was on the writing team for the National Military Strategy. He served as the Senior Army representative at the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College and as a seminar leader and Professor of Strategy, Plans, Policy, and Joint and Combined Operations. He also served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, III (US) Corps, (FWD), G3 Operations Officer, responsible for the day-to-day operations of a European forward-deployed US Army Corps headquarters.
